Transforming gastronomy spaces with lighting

Today, we are excited to shine a spotlight on our latest project, Le Big TAM TAM, which opened its doors in Hamburg just two weeks ago. This vibrant and eclectic venue is a testament to the power of bold design and state-of-the-art lighting design, and we couldn't be more thrilled to share the details with you.

Le big TAM TAM: A new standard in Hospitality Lighting

Le big TAM TAM is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience!!! Located in the heart of Hamburg, this establishment seamlessly blends exquisite dining with an atmosphere that captivates and enchants its guests. Central to this immersive experience is the lighting design, meticulously crafted by Studio De Schutter to enhance every facet of the space.

The importance of lighting in Gastronomy and Hospitality

In the competitive world of gastronomy and hospitality, the right lighting can make all the difference. It sets the mood, highlights the decor, and ensures that guests feel comfortable and welcome. Straight from the briefing for Le big TAM TAM, we understood that every light fixture, every shadow, and every beam of light needed to be perfect to create an unforgettable ambiance, and that standard solutions just wouldn’t cut it.

The lighting solutions at Le big Tam-Tam

Our approach to lighting design at Le big TAM TAM was both comprehensive and creative. Here’s how we brought this unique project to life:

1. Customized Lighting Fixtures

To capture the unique spirit of Le big TAM TAM, we designed customized lighting fixtures that blend modern aesthetics with functional needs. These fixtures not only illuminate the space but also serve as striking visual elements that complement the restaurant’s decor. Because of the low ceiling height in some areas, the lighting fixtures incorporate mirrors, in other areas the space is mainly illuminated indirectly as the focus is on the walls.

2. Dynamic Lighting Control

You don’t just want a customer to come once, you want them to become a regular both winter and summer. Flexibility is therefore key. We created dynamic lighting scenes for Le big TAM TAM. The lighting control system allows changing the ambiance from morning to midnight. This adaptability enhances experience in the space and compensates the daylight, whether it's a lively brunch or an intimate dinner.

3. Sustainability

Sustainability is at the forefront of our design philosophy. The lighting solutions implemented at Le big TAM TAM are energy-efficient, reducing the environmental footprint while maintaining high-quality illumination. LED technology and smart controls ensure that energy consumption is minimized without compromising on the lighting quality. Further, we plan with the end in mind, allowing the fixtures to be disassembled or upgraded whenever whished. Several of the products used are zhaga consortium compatible.

4. Highlighting Architectural Features

The architecture of Le big TAM TAM is as much a part of the experience as the food and service. Our lighting design strategically highlights the unique architectural features, drawing attention to the intricate details and craftsmanship that make this venue stand out.

Whether you're in the gastronomy or hospitality industry looking for inspiration or simply seeking a unique dining experience, Le Big Tam-Tam in Hamburg is a must-visit destination.
