Who we are
Studio De Schutter is an independent lighting consultancy based in Berlin and Antwerp. As a creative lighting consultancy they develop tailor-made lighting solutions for workplaces, hotels, and light art installations for public spaces.
For Sabine De Schutter and her team, design is about creating meaningful spaces that positively affect people's lives. In their work, they merge functionality with beauty and design atmosphere that sculpts the perception of a space.
People and their needs are at the centre of their human-centric and future-oriented approach. They do not allow themselves to be constrained by conventional lighting norms. Rather, they seek to understand individual requirements and work with their clients to transform spaces and develop bespoke lighting solutions that build a sense of community in a workspace, add a touch of identity and beauty to a hotel, or bring out the character of a listed building.

Sabine De Schutter
CEO and Lighting Designer
Studio De Schutter was founded in 2015 by Belgian-born Sabine De Schutter. The Berlin-based designer studied interior design in Antwerp and Barcelona, has a second master's degree in architectural lighting design from Hochschule Wismar, and studied design thinking at HPI d.school in Potsdam.
Besides managing the studio, Sabine also teaches at the HPI d.school of Design Thinking as prototyping expert, at Hochschule Wismar’s long distance program, is an IALD Educator member and the ambassador for Women in Lighting in Germany.
Vikramaditya Varma
Team Lead and Lighting Designer
Vikram joined our team in 2022 as Team and project lead at Studio De Schutter. He has a background in product design and over 10-years of experience working in architectural lighting design internationally and within the German-speaking region.
