Le big TamTam featured in MD Magazine
The Le big TamTam project in Hamburg is featured in MD Magazine as an example of precise lighting design in hospitality. A previously inaccessible basement space within the Hanseviertel is reactivated as an open food market – with light acting as the key element that creates orientation, defines zones, and makes the space readable.
Studio De Schutter developed a holistic lighting concept that compensates for the lack of daylight while working with contrast, accents, and spatial hierarchy. Four distinct lighting scenarios structure the day – from bright and clear daytime use to a more focused and atmospheric setting in the evening and during events. At the center, the bar beneath the dome acts as a spatial anchor, supported by flexible, interchangeable systems and bespoke solutions for different zones – from food counters to integrated luminaires within furniture. The result is a system designed not only for performance, but for long-term adaptability.
