Design for Disassembly – Strategies from Product to Space
How can we design furniture and interiors so that disassembly doesn’t mean demolition but transformation?
This is the guiding question of the panel “Design for Disassembly – Strategies from Product to Space”, taking place on November 20, 2025, at STATION Berlin.
From 11:45 to 12:30, Thilo Reich (Architect & Designer), Sabine De Schutter (Lighting Designer) and Dirk Hindenberg (Head of Marketing, Klöber) will discuss how circular and adaptable design can redefine how we think about materials and spaces.
“Design for Disassembly is more than a technical principle – it’s a mindset that embraces the full life cycle of products and interiors.”
What if materials never had to end?
If furniture, luminaires, or entire interiors could be dismantled, repaired and reimagined instead of discarded?
The discussion explores the intersections of product design, interior architecture and lighting design, seeking new forms of collaboration and ways to combine aesthetic quality with ecological responsibility.
“Design shouldn’t end with the first life of an object. We must plan for the second and third – including in light.”
– Sabine De Schutter
The talk illustrates how circular design works in practice – from modular lighting and flexible workspaces to materials designed for clean separation and reuse.
🟡 Join us on November 20 at STATION Berlin and experience how design, light, and sustainability come together to make transformation visible.
