Adaption (visual)

A

(Visual) adaptation is the temporary change in sensitivity or perception when exposed to a new  (more or less intense) stimulus, and the lingering afterimage that may result when the stimulus is removed.

Tip from a lighting designer

When designing the lighting of a space, we take into account the transitions between darker and brighter spaces. For example between a corridor with lower lighting levels and brighter office spaces. Or when going from a well-lit museum space to a darker one or even a light art installation
